If you're heading to Germany on a student visa, you'll meet the 'blocked account' (Sperrkonto). It sounds intimidating; it's really just proof you can support yourself.
What it is
You deposit a year's living costs into a special account, and it releases a set amount to you each month. It reassures the visa office that you won't run out of money in your first year.
